Step 4: Choose the Shutdown option
Once you have opened the Start menu by clicking on the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of your screen, you will see a dropdown menu appear. This menu contains several options that you can choose from to customize or control your Lenovo computer. One of these options is the “Shutdown” option, which allows you to turn off your computer completely.
To select the “Shutdown” option, simply move your mouse cursor over it and click on it. Alternatively, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through the options in the dropdown menu, and then press the Enter key to select the “Shutdown” option.
Important note: Before choosing the “Shutdown” option, it is recommended to save any unsaved work and close any open programs or applications. This will help prevent the loss of any important data or the occurrence of errors upon shutting down your Lenovo computer.
After selecting the “Shutdown” option, your Lenovo computer will begin the process of shutting down. This involves closing all running programs, closing any open files, and safely powering off the various internal components of your computer.
During the shutdown process, you may see a screen that displays a message indicating that Windows is shutting down. This is normal and simply indicates that your computer is in the process of turning off. Depending on the speed and efficiency of your computer, the shutdown process may take a few seconds or a couple of minutes to complete.
Once the shutdown process is complete, your Lenovo computer will turn off completely. You will no longer see any activity on your screen, and your computer will not respond to any input from the keyboard or mouse.
Pro tip: If you want to turn off your Lenovo computer without accessing the Start menu, you can also use the physical power button located on your computer’s case or keyboard. This button is typically marked with a symbol that looks like a circle with a vertical line inside it. Press and hold this button for a few seconds until your computer powers off.
It is important to note that using the physical power button to turn off your computer may not give your running programs and applications a chance to save your progress or close properly. This can potentially lead to data loss or system errors. Therefore, it is recommended to use the “Shutdown” option in the Start menu whenever possible.
