FIU will not house Keys evacuees this season
Local 10
…This year one thing they will not be taking care of: all Keys Evacuees. For the first time in 20 years, the school is no longer the mainland evacuation shelter for Monroe County. Sun-Sentinel
Going for a bachelor’s degree was on Joanne Studer‘s bucket list. At 49, and as executive assistant to president Kevin Ross at Lynn University, building on her two-year associate’s degree in office administration was a perk. She could do it for free. But content with her job, Studer had a big decision. “I thought about it, and why do I want to put myself through this?” she said. So she talked it over with her husband Phil and their children Meghan and Kevin. And after Lynn accepted most of her credits, the West Boca resident went for it, taking evening and online classes to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In the meantime, Meghan Studer, 21, was getting her American Studies degree in three years, and this past semester, Kevin Studer, 19, was a freshman, now going into his sophomore year, both at Lynn.
