Trustees had terminated the university’s contract with Tallahassee-based Premier Construction in August, saying changes to the price made it unacceptable to continue. Premier had already poured the foundation and built partial first-floor walls at the time the contract was canceled…

Blacks, Latinos must overcome obstacles to be heard at polls
Orlando Sentinel
Because of this, national NAACP President Ben Jealous has asked for European monitors to watch over our elections. I support this request and ask that observers come to Florida. We demand a fair and open voting process. At this point, we don’t feel comfortable that Gov. Rick Scott and the Legislature will provide this. So it is up to outsiders to help ensure our rights are protected. Hopefully, there won’t be any problems. I’m encouraged that students forming long lines at the University of Central Florida are voting without incident.
